Robinhood CISO: The biggest obstacle in the crypto industry is not regulation, but user experience
On April 13th, Robinhood Crypto's Chief Information Security Officer Katelyn Perna stated that the goal of the crypto industry should be to design tools that make crypto easy to access, secure, and simple, without sacrificing self-custody or decentralization.
As the crypto industry matures, most of the focus is still on regulation, custody, and scalability. But by 2025, the biggest obstacle to adoption will not be policy, but user experience. The interface of Crypto is still too complex for everyday users. From managing mnemonic phrases to deciphering blockchain transactions, getting started feels more like navigating a maze than joining a financial revolution. Wallets are still scattered, non-intuitive, and risky. To achieve mainstream adoption, the industry must prioritize usability - making wallets and financial tools more easily accessible - without compromising the core principle of decentralization. Until then, a poor user experience will continue to hinder the development of cryptocurrencies.
