Trump responds to Musk's term in the government efficiency department coming to an end: I will try my best to keep him
According to The Hill, Musk, as the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, is a special government employee, which means he can only work in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for 130 days.
President Trump commented on this matter saying that he expects Musk will eventually return to running his own companies after completing federal government reform work. However, he will try his best to retain Musk.
"I think he's excellent but also has a big company to manage. At some point, he'll go back. He wants to go back. I'll do my best to keep him here. He's a very talented individual."
On March 27th, Musk told Fox News that he believes himself capable of achieving the goal of cutting $1 trillion in government spending "within the stipulated time frame", i.e., before stepping down at the end of May.
