Ripple Expands Cross-Border Crypto Payments in Africa
Ripple and Chipper Cash joined forces to introduce cross-border payments using cryptocurrencies in Africa. The new solution will lower international transaction costs and enable 24/7 processing.

Ripple Labs, a leading provider of digital financial infrastructure, announced a strategic partnership with FinTech company Chipper Cash, which serves over 5 million customers across Africa. The collaboration will launch a solution powered by Ripple Payments, leveraging digital assets to facilitate faster and more affordable cross-border transactions in the region.
Through the integration of Chipper Cash with Ripple Payments, users across the African continent will be able to receive international transfers around the clock, 365 days a year. Ripple’s platform spans over 90 countries, covering more than 90% of the global currency market, and processed transactions exceeding $70 billion. Additionally, Ripple holds over 60 licenses and registrations in various jurisdictions, ensuring regulatory compliance.
“Consumers and businesses across the continent are increasingly recognizing the potential of blockchain technology. Our partnership with Chipper Cash marks a key milestone in the expansion of Ripple’s business in Africa,” said Reece Merrick, Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa at Ripple. He emphasized that digital asset-based solutions enhance financial accessibility, drive economic growth, and simplify international transfers.
Ham Serunjogi, Co-Founder and CEO at Chipper Cash, expressed confidence that crypto payments open doors to global markets and financial services. According to him, the partnership with Ripple is a step toward making these opportunities a reality for millions of users in Africa.
Max Krupyshev, CEO of CoinsPaid , highlighted the advantages of cryptocurrencies in cross-border transactions during the Purpose Driven FinTech podcast, predicting strong demand for such solutions in the coming years.
