Cathie Wood: Predicts that the US GDP growth rate will reach 7.3%, and technologies such as cryptocurrency will drive global economic transformation
ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood stated that the U.S. economy is nearing the end of a "rolling recession" and is about to welcome unprecedented productivity growth driven by artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies. She predicts that the U.S. GDP growth rate will reach 7.3% and believes that the largest productivity increase in history is imminent, despite weak short-term economic data. She believes that technologies such as AI, genetic technology, automation, and cryptocurrencies will drive global economic transformation and form a positive cycle with Trump administration's tax cuts and deregulation policies. In addition, she pointed out that since SEC Chairman Gary Gensler stepped down, the U.S government's attitude towards the crypto industry is changing; Washington is welcoming a "digital asset revolution". Wood thinks current market funds are mainly concentrated on “MAG7” (seven tech giants), but they will shift to broader innovative stocks in future; she specifically mentioned ChatGPT still dominates but Elon Musk’s Grok grows faster; open-source AI models like DeepSeek & Meta’s Llama or possible future open-source versions of Grok would become important trends. However, her views have been met with negative reactions from investors who question her investment strategy and believe she was overly optimistic about Trump administration's economic policies especially tariffs policy & tax cuts which could lead to an expanded fiscal deficit while ARK Innovation ETF has lagged behind S&P500 after its big drop in 2022 . Despite this criticism ,Wood remains firm in her belief that US economy will enter one of strongest bull markets ever seen if new technologies like AI drive deflation leading to unprecedented economic growth.
