Thailand plans to issue $148 million in tokenized government bonds before October

According to Ledger Insights, Thailand's Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira said that the government plans to issue 5 billion baht ($148 million) in government bonds directly to the public before the end of this fiscal year (September 30). The initial issuance will be considered a sandbox project and can be traded on a digital bond platform. The minister stated: "We will allow retail investors to participate, regardless of their financial situation. They can invest any amount and buy and sell directly on the platform, bypassing traditional bank counters. There are currently many platforms available for selection, with private sector participation we expect management costs will decrease, with minimum investments as low as 1,000 baht." In addition, he mentioned that the government is considering merging Securities Law with Digital Asset Law.
