Getgems leverages Telegram's 950M users for NFT growth
Getgems, a marketplace built on The Open Network (TON), is optimistic about boosting NFT adoption in 2025 by utilising Telegram's extensive user base.
Despite a challenging year for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in 2024, where trading volumes fell nearly 20%, Getgems sees potential in Telegram's 950 million monthly active users.
The team believes that NFTs have never had such a seamless connection with mass users as they do through Telegram.
Getgems emphasises that its focus is on utility rather than volume or gambling, highlighting features like Telegram Usernames that provide ownership rights and Anonymous Numbers representing accounts.
According to Getgems, the trading volume for Usernames has reached 72 million Toncoin (CRYPTO:TON), while Anonymous Numbers account for 24 million Toncoin, totaling approximately $480 million.
The recent launch of Telegram Gifts, which can be converted into NFTs, has also gained traction, with over 20 million Gifts acquired by users since October 2024.
Getgems aims to make NFTs more accessible and appealing, leveraging the platform's existing features to foster user engagement and drive adoption.
As the NFT market continues to recover from its downturn, Getgems is positioning itself to capitalise on the growing interest in utility-focused digital collectibles.
With the integration of on-chain NFTs into Telegram's ecosystem, Getgems is hopeful that these developments will lead to a resurgence in NFT popularity and usage among a broader audience.
