Foreign Media: US Secretary of Commerce nominee Lutnick plans to transfer Cantor's Tether business relations to his colleagues
According to Decrypt, cryptocurrency supporter Howard Lutnick, who was nominated by Trump for Secretary of Commerce, previously stated that he will resign from Cantor, BGC and Newmark after Senate approval. Howard Lutnick currently serves as the CEO of Cantor and plans to transfer the company's Tether business relationship to a colleague, reportedly likely his son Brandon Lutnick.
Brandon Lutnick had previously interned in Tether's Swiss business department and is currently working at Cantor. It is said that during his internship in Lugano he once counted gold bars supporting Tether Gold tokens worth $660 million.
Earlier news reported that Cantor Fitzgerald was negotiating with Tether to launch a $2 billion Bitcoin loan project; A spokesperson for Tether stated that their relationship with Cantor Fitzgerald is professional and any claims about CEO Lutnick influencing regulatory actions are purely baseless.
