The Russian Ministry of Energy proposes to limit cryptocurrency mining in areas with energy shortages
The Russian Ministry of Energy has officially proposed a plan to limit cryptocurrency mining activities in certain special regions affected by energy shortages. An unnamed source stated that the official proposal will begin implementing these restrictions in December this year, emphasizing: "The Ministry of Energy does indeed have a proposal, and we will review it at the government committee meeting on November 18." The Ministry of Energy said that due to expected energy shortages in some areas, the possible implementation of restriction measures is reasonable. The ministry explained, "During periods when an energy shortage is anticipated, it would be wise to prohibit cryptocurrency mining in key regulatory and fiscal parameter areas as well as areas with electricity subsidies."
