Reuters, citing a number of informed sources, reported that Donald Trump's team has a list of candidates for the post of chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
According to the publication's sources, the main contender for the post is currently Dan Gallagher, who served as an SEC commissioner from 2011 to 2015 and now works as the general counsel at Robinhood.
However, his candidacy has not yet been approved, and discussions on this matter are still ongoing. In addition to him, the list of candidates also includes the CEO of Patomak Global Partners, Paul Atkins, who worked with Donald Trump's team in 2016.
He is also on the list, as is Robert Stebbins, a partner at the law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher, as he previously served as the SEC's general counsel during Donald Trump's first term.
It is not known when exactly the new SEC chairman will be appointed. According to Reuters sources, the selection process will continue for at least several weeks. Thus, the market will find out who exactly will take over this post as early as December.
The chances of Gary Gensler keeping his job are extremely slim, analysts are convinced, since Trump has repeatedly promised to fire him after taking office as US president.
