269 Pro-Crypto Candidates Voted In to House of Representatives and Senate: Stand With Crypto
Coinbase-backed digital asset advocacy group Stand With Crypto says that over 250 pro-crypto candidates were voted into Congress.
According to the non-profit organization, last night’s presidential election – which saw Donald Trump defeat Vice President Kamala Harris – also included victories for 257 pro-crypto candidates in the House and 16 in the Senate.
However, Stand With Crypto’s data also shows that 115 anti-crypto politicians were voted into the House while 12 of them won their respective Senate races.
Pro-crypto candidates largely came from the states of California (20), Texas (30), Florida (21), Georgia (10), Michigan (10), New York and Pennsylvania, which both had 12.
Notable winners included Dave McCormick, who won a Senate seat in Pennsylvania. Earlier this year, McCormick emphasized the importance of embracing blockchain technology to create new job opportunities and heighten national security.
John Deaton, who has represented XRP and crypto holders in court multiple times, failed to defeat incumbent Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, a known anti-crypto Senator. Deaton lost the race by over 600,000 votes.
In a new post on the social media platform X, Coinbase chief executive Brian Armstrong says the election results show that Americans disproportionately care about crypto.
“Welcome to the new members of America’s most pro-crypto Congress ever… 219+ pro-crypto candidates and counting have now been elected to the House and Senate.
Tonight the crypto voter has spoken decisively – across party lines and in key races across the country. Americans disproportionately care about crypto and want clear rules of the road for digital assets. We look forward to working with the new Congress to deliver it.”
