OpenAI in talks with California regulators to move toward becoming a for-profit company
On November 5th, OpenAI is in preliminary discussions with regulatory agencies to push for the transformation of the non-profit structure of this $15.7 billion company into a for-profit business. Two sources revealed that the company is in preliminary negotiations with the California Attorney General's office regarding the process of changing the company's structure. This process may involve regulatory scrutiny of how OpenAI evaluates its profitable intellectual property portfolio, such as the ChatGPT application.
