Poll shows 5% of US voters focused on crypto policies

A recent poll by venture capital firm Paradigm indicates that 5% of U.S. voters identify as single-issue crypto voters ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

This voting bloc, which prioritises cryptocurrency policies, has the potential to influence a closely contested race, especially in swing states with narrow margins of victory.

The survey revealed that one-quarter of crypto owners consider themselves single-issue voters, with 11% of respondents in the 18-34 age range, 8% of male voters, and 8% of Hispanic voters aligning with this stance.

The data also shows that 7% of African American voters identify as single-issue crypto voters.

Paradigm pointed out that this 5% pro-crypto group surpasses the typical margin of victory in key swing states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, where results are often determined by a slim 1-2% margin.

The poll also explored public perception of political parties’ trustworthiness regarding crypto policies.

Thirty percent of respondents expressed more trust in the Republican Party on crypto matters, while 24% leaned towards the Democratic Party.

However, a significant portion of respondents—42%—stated that they trust neither party on this issue.

Interestingly, the survey results showed no clear advantage for either candidate among crypto owners.

This contrasts with betting odds on platforms like Polymarket, where former President Donald Trump maintains a substantial lead over Vice President Kamala Harris.

This divergence has raised questions, with concerns about potential market manipulation influencing betting markets.

According to Pennsylvania State University law professor Dr. Tonya M. Evans, single-issue voters, including those focused on crypto policies, could play a decisive role in the upcoming election.

Evans emphasised that the 2024 race is expected to be decided by narrow margins, making these specific voting blocs particularly influential.
