BlackRock recently set a new record for the acquisition of Bitcoin, currently holding over 400,000 Bitcoins worth nearly $26.98 billion. In just the past two weeks, BlackRock has purchased an additional 34,085 Bitcoins worth about $2.3 billion. The surge in Bitcoin holdings is consistent with the growing trend of institutional investors investing in Bitcoin through Bitcoin ETFs, which are gradually becoming the preferred way for traditional financial companies to invest in Bitcoin. However, BlackRock's rapidly increasing Bitcoin holdings have raised some questions about the potential impact of the company on the Bitcoin ecosystem. People are speculating whether BlackRock will try to fork the Bitcoin blockchain in the future to establish a version that better suits its interests. Although many people believe this is impossible, or even a conspiracy theory, the massive scale of BlackRock's Bitcoin holdings has indeed sparked a debate about the decentralization of Bitcoin.
