Krüger urges investors to shift from Ethereum to Solana
Economist Alex Krüger has advised cryptocurrency investors to reconsider their focus on Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) amid what he views as its lackluster performance.
Using the social media platform X, Krüger expressed concerns about Ethereum’s future, urging investors to explore alternatives like Solana (CRYPTO:SOL), which he noted had reached a “significant upward trajectory.”
Krüger pointed to Solana’s rapid price appreciation, which he described as reaching “escape velocity,” suggesting that its recent growth outpaces Ethereum’s gains.
This notable performance, according to Krüger, should prompt a reevaluation of current strategies as Solana solidifies its competitive edge.
He noted, “It’s time to stop investing in ETH,” advocating for a diversified approach focused on assets showing greater potential returns.
The economist also mentioned his intention to consider long positions in alternative cryptocurrencies such as Solana, contingent on a favorable outcome in the upcoming U.S. presidential election, particularly if a candidate supportive of crypto regulation is elected.
This strategic outlook reflects Krüger’s broader focus on aligning investments with evolving political and regulatory landscapes.
Solana’s growth has been fueled partly by a surge in memecoin activity, spotlighting its potential to outshine Ethereum and its layer-2 networks.
Krüger emphasised that on-chain activity is increasingly shifting away from Ethereum, noting the sustained downturn in the ETH/BTC pair.
He also raised doubts about Ethereum’s trajectory as a deflationary asset, indicating that potential changes at the regulatory level, such as SEC Chair Gary Gensler’s departure, could open doors for both Ethereum and Solana ETFs.
At the time of reporting, the Ethereum price was $2,509.40, and the Solana price was $177.16.
