Improbable: the Somnia blockchain will enter the DevNet phase in the coming weeks
On October 25, according to CoinDesk, Improbable, the UK-based meta-universe technology company that created Yuga Labs' Otherside platform, announced that the Somnia blockchain will enter the DevNet phase in the coming weeks.Somnia claims to be able to process more than 400,000 transactions per second (TPS), with low latency, low fees, and compatibility with the Ethernet Virtual Machine (EVM).
Improbable CEO Herman Narula said Somnia's high-throughput technology could help enable more on-chain applications and criticized the current industry for being too focused on short-term gains and lacking high-performance blockchain support. The project was initiated by the Virtual Society Foundation and is backed by investors such as a16z and SoftBank. narula emphasized that the team has been working for two years on solving performance bottlenecks with the goal of building large-scale meta-universe applications.
