Vietnam reveals plan to be a blockchain leader in Southeast Asia
The Vietnamese government has announced a comprehensive strategy to position the country as a leading blockchain hub in Southeast Asia.
On October 22, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc unveiled the initiative, which aims to strengthen Vietnam's blockchain ecosystem, improve its legal framework, and enhance human resource capabilities.
According to the official plan, the government’s action program for 2023-2030 includes five key steps.
These are: perfecting the legal environment, developing a robust blockchain ecosystem, creating a pool of skilled professionals, promoting blockchain solutions, and committing to research and international collaboration.
The government’s ambitious goals involve building 20 blockchain brands and maintaining at least three testing centers, with Vietnamese institutions aspiring to rank among the region’s top ten in blockchain research and training.
The Vietnam Blockchain Association (VBA) will play a key role in implementing these initiatives.
Phan Duc Trung, VBA’s vice president, expressed pride in the association’s involvement, stating, “This is an honor, recognizing VBA’s contributions in gathering opinions and contributions from the community.”
He emphasised the association’s commitment to fulfilling assigned tasks and fostering the development of the blockchain community in line with the national strategy.
The strategy also aims to enhance Vietnam’s digital economy and society by promoting the application of blockchain technology.
According to the National Blockchain Strategy, the country’s highest legal status reflects Vietnam’s commitment to this sector.
By focusing on the practical application of blockchain, the strategy seeks to achieve the broader goals of a digital economy and society.
