Aurum Equity launches $1B global tokenised fund
Aurum Equity Partners has announced the launch of a $1 billion tokenised fund, combining equity and debt assets into a single investment basket.
The new fund aims to invest in data centers across the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, India, and Europe, according to an October 22 announcement.
The fund leverages asset tokenisation solutions from Zoniqx, utilising its Dynamic Compliant Interoperable Security Token (DyCIST) protocol alongside the XRP Ledger (XRPL), a layer-1 blockchain.
These technologies will allow Aurum to transform its assets into digital financial instruments, opening up investment opportunities to a broader range of investors, including those with smaller capital.
David Schwartz, Ripple’s chief technology officer and co-creator of the XRP Ledger, highlighted that tokenising private equity offers an emerging solution to traditional market challenges like illiquidity and restricted access, providing greater flexibility and inclusivity in investments.
Aurum traditionally invests in essential infrastructure, focusing on sectors such as real estate, venture capital, and cloud infrastructure.
The firm has been involved in over 125 transactions totaling $2 billion, with investments spanning India and the United States.
Tokenisation has been gaining traction as a method to bring traditional financial assets onto blockchain platforms.
Experts predict that this sector could expand up to 50 times by 2030, with market estimates ranging from $4 trillion to $30 trillion.
The growing demand for efficient and accessible financial instruments is driving this shift.
Prasanth Kalangi, founder and CEO of Zoniqx, emphasised the innovative approach, stating, “Our technology is designed to meet the evolving needs of the financial industry, and we are excited to demonstrate its potential in the private equity space.”
