BREAKING: One of the World’s Largest Altcoins Announces a Name Change
According to breaking news, Worldcoin is rebranding itself as World (and World Network).
Worldcoin, the identity and cryptocurrency startup founded by Sam Altman, has rebranded itself as “World” (and “World Network”) to better align with its expanding mission. The change reflects the company’s focus on identity verification technologies designed to distinguish between humans and bots in an increasingly AI-driven society.
As AI technology continues to advance, distinguishing human users from automated bots has become a growing concern. World aims to position their technology as a key tool to address this challenge.
Altman and co-founder Alex Blania unveiled a number of updates to celebrate the rebrand at an event in San Francisco:
New Orb Technology: World has introduced an updated version of its Orb iris scanner, powered by Nvidia’s latest Jetson chipset. The new Orb delivers nearly five times the AI performance of its predecessor while using fewer components. This development is expected to enable broader deployment, including in self-service kiosks.
Alternative Authentication Methods: To increase accessibility, World is introducing new options for people to participate in the ID project without undergoing an iris scan. One method involves scanning an NFC-enabled passport. This approach allows individuals to verify their age, nationality and passport ownership without revealing their full identity.
Fighting Deepfakes: World is working to integrate authentication technology into widely used software applications such as FaceTime, WhatsApp, and Zoom to increase digital security through secure authentication and combat the rise of deepfakes.
Mobile App Improvements: World is updating its mobile app to support “mini apps” from a variety of third-party developers. This expansion aims to create a more versatile platform, increase user engagement, and expand the app’s functionality.
