Foreign Media: Former Apple Design Director Confirms Collaboration with OpenAI to Develop New Devices, iPhone Veteran Joins the Team
According to foreign media reports, there was news in April this year that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman teamed up with former Apple design director Jony Ive to jointly design AI hardware for individuals and is currently seeking external investment. Ive himself confirmed this on September 21. The report mentioned that by the end of this year, the new company might raise $1 billion in funds. Notably, the project received funding from Emerson Collective, a company owned by Laurene Powell Jobs (Steve Jobs' widow). It was revealed that although the startup team for this new device project is small with only 10 employees, it includes two key figures who developed iPhone with Ive - Tang Tan and Evans Hankey. As for the specific form and function of the product itself, although there are rumors in the market that inspiration comes from touchscreen technology and first-generation iPhone, this news has not yet been officially confirmed.
