Worldcoin Enters Malaysia with the Government’s Blessing
- Worldcoin has debuted its operations in Malaysia.
- The project announced a partnership with the Malaysian government.
- This came after Worldcoin’s CEO met with government representatives in April.
On Friday, Worldcoin announced that Malaysians will be able to access “individual humanness verifications” using its Orbs devices. This follows a partnership established between the crypto project and the Malaysian government.
The “proof-of-humanhood” project started bolstering its ties with the Malaysian authorities earlier this year when CEO Alex Blania met with representatives of the country’s digital ministry on April 23. This came a few days after Blania and fellow Tools for Humanity co-founder Sam Altman joined a video call with Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Worldcoin’s Partnership with the Malaysian Government
According to a statement on August 16, the Worldcoin Foundation, Tools for Humanity (TFH), and e-government service provider MyEG have signed an MoU with MIMOS Berhad, the Malaysian government’s applied research and development arm.

The MoU will see the Malaysian government leverage the Worldcoin protocol and other technologies created by TFH to improve ongoing and future work related to the country’s digital infrastructure.
“As part of the MoU, new Worldcoin operations in Malaysia will give individuals access to individual humanness verifications using state-of-the-art iris imaging technology developed by TFH for the Worldcoin project,” the statement reads.Other potential areas of collaboration between MoU’s parties include joint orb manufacturing and bridging of the World Chain to Malaysia’s National Blockchain Infrastructure.
Per the statement, while the Worldcoin Foundation will work to ensure that its technology is open-source and freely available in the country, TFH will provide technical support for World App and the Orbs devices. Meanwhile, MYEG will assist MIMOS Berhad with technical integrations and hardware deployment.
