Taiko: Plans to upgrade the BCR mainnet protocol to version 1.7.0 on July 1
Taiko announced on X platform that it will upgrade the Taiko BCR mainnet protocol to version 1.7.0 on July 1st. This version is ABI compatible with the current Taiko-geth and client versions, but includes underlying protocol changes that affect block proposers and validators. The main updates include:
1. The designated validator of the block must also be the proposer;
2. Block validators need to verify whether the existing converted stateRoot is zero. If it is, the protocol will only compare blockHash to determine if another conversion is disputed;
3. Reduce the effectiveness and dispute guarantee of liveness assurance and SGX proof by 50%;
4. Gas optimization;
5. Upgraded the Hekla testnet protocol, which may cause some block proposers and validator transactions to fail. It is recommended that all Hekla block proposers and validators update their transaction parameters as soon as possible.
