Hackers recover lost bitcoin by cracking password generated by flawed software
Joe Grand, a hacker also known as Kingpin, and his team successfully recovered 43.6 BTC for a wallet owner who had lost access to it due to a forgotten password. The password was generated using an old version of RoboForm password manager, which had a flaw in its pseudo-random number generator. Although Grand usually declines requests for password recovery services, he was able to help in this case. The wallet owner sold some of their Bitcoin and plans to wait for the exchange rate to reach $100,000 before cashing out, while the issue with the random generator in RoboForm has been fixed.
