Thailand launches new 'digital nomad' visa that extends stay by nearly a year
The Thai government announced a new visa category for digital nomads and freelancers. According to reports, this visa allows them to work in the country for nearly a year, but details regarding tax and income requirements are not yet clear. In recent years, the country has become a hotspot for digital nomads, attracting cryptocurrency traders and developers. It is reported that the Thai government has also introduced a new Thailand Destination Visa (DTV) for foreigners who want to work while on vacation. The cost of the DTV is $270 (10,000 Thai baht) and is valid for five years. The stay period for the DTV is 180 days, and if the same fee is paid, it can be extended for another 180 days. Holders of the visa can work in Thailand for up to 12 months at a time. The visa requires remote workers in Thailand to provide at least approximately $13,650 (500,000 Thai baht) as support for their spouse and children.
