The Eigen Foundation will distribute an additional $1,000 in EIGEN to token holders

Shortly after facing criticism from the community regarding its controversial airdrop behavior, the Eigen Foundation will airdrop approximately $1,000 worth of EIGEN to each of its over 280,000 wallet holders.

In a post on X on Thursday, the Eigen Foundation stated that first season recipients will receive at least 110 EIGEN, while second season recipients will receive 100 EIGEN or more. This comes in the face of strong public opposition to the EIGEN airdrop plan (including provisions prohibiting claimants from redeeming their allocation within a fixed period of time).

In a blog post released on Thursday, EigenLayer also clarified that investor tokens will become transferable after the start of token transferability. The post stated that the token will unlock at some point after September 30, 2024, when new features will be launched on Eigenlayer's mainnet.
