The Block: Crypto venture capital funding will drop 68% in 2023 compared to last year
On December 26th, in 2023, venture capitalists invested $10.7 billion in cryptocurrency and blockchain startups, a decrease of 68% from $33.3 billion in 2022. Most of these investments occurred at the beginning of the year, with a decline in the second half, although there was an increase in funding in November. Compared to 2022, the proportion of investments allocated to pre-seed, seed, and Series A startups increased in 2023, while the number of investments in mid-to-late stage startups decreased. As for verticals, NFT/games, infrastructure, and Web3 maintained their dominant positions in terms of investment, while other categories such as data, transactions, and enterprise received fewer investments.
