Cosine: Inferno Drainer steals $1.23 million again
Founder of SlowMist, Yu Xian, wrote on X platform that Inferno Drainer has stolen another $1.23 million worth of assets (603 aEthWETH). The victim's address also has 770 aEthWETH locked in Avalanche chain, so not all of their assets were stolen.
Earlier, the team behind the scam service provider Inferno Drainer announced in a Telegram group on November 26 that they would permanently shut down.
It is reported that Inferno Drainer provides users with phishing tools and takes a 20% commission from the funds stolen from users.
According to the analysis of Web3 anti-fraud platform Scam Sniffer, since February, Inferno Drainer has stolen nearly $70 million in funds, with over 100,000 victims. However, the Inferno Drainer team claimed to have stolen over $80 million.
Blockchain security company CertiK stated that Inferno Drainer is one of the most destructive phishing toolkits in the community. Although it has been shut down, there are still many other service providers active, including competitors Pink Drainer and Angel Drainer. The latter released an update on November 25 to help users steal victims' wallet funds on more chains.
